FAQs

How can I find a poetry partner?

Register to receive a pack with guidance on how to find a poetry partner. If you’d like to find an existing partnership, we publish a map of participating schools and care homes who have given us permission to do so on our website. However, this is by no means everyone. The best thing to do is get in touch with the nearest care home or school to you and see if they’re keen to take part in the project with you.

Is there a fee to participate in Poetry Together?

No. Poetry Together is completely free for all participants.

I am not a school or care home but I love poetry. How can I take part?

Follow Poetry Together on social media to keep up to date with everything we’re doing and share in the joy of poetry. If you know of a local group of children or elderly people whom you think would enjoy the project, please pass on the details of this website to them and spread the joy! You can even suggest setting up a poetry recital group with your local care home. Poetry recital groups exist throughout the UK, where people get together and perform poetry by heart in a group. This is particularly beneficial to older people, helping their minds stay strong and healthy for longer.

Why do I need to register?

When you register with us, you receive a digital welcome pack with all the information about what to do. If you are registered with us, it also means we can send your school or care home your Participation Certificate, once you’ve hosted your recital. Registration is completely free and takes two minutes.

Can we perform a poem written by one of our group?

Yes - you can perform any poem you choose.

Is this just for primary schools?

No. Any school can take part. Nursery, primary, secondary, state, independent… it doesn’t matter, as long as you love poetry!

When should we hold our poetry recital?

The next Poetry Together season takes place over a number of weeks in Autumn, starting from National Poetry Day.

I represent a group of children/elderly, but we’re not technically a school or care home. Can we still take part?

Absolutely! There are very few restrictions when it comes to Poetry Together. Simply register as your group. We’ve had all sorts of participating parties, from Bridge clubs to Girl Guide groups.

Join us for all the fun!

Poetry Together is a wonderful way to develop minds - both young and old - and build links with your community.
